Complex architecture – constructible solutions

In 2017 the Danish Society of Engineers put out a tender for a new architectural landmark to be located on Kalvebod Brygge in Copenhagen. The structure was a double curved, post tensioned steel and glulam structure with an EFTE cover.

CN3 made a series of geometric and technical analyses and developed alternative design options for Pihl & Søn, one of the contractors in the bidding. The various designs were developed with the view of achieving the most efficient execution of the building structure. They proved to create savings of up to 20% of the total budget for the structure, significantly improving the competitiveness of the contractor’s bid.
